Two members of the National Executive Committee of Sri Lanka China Friendship Association joined in the Youth Delegation to China 2017 organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Embassy of the Republic of China in Sri Lanka. Mr. Prasad Wijesuriya of SLCFA’s NEC lead the nine-member Youth Delegation as the Chief Coordinator, and Mr. Tharindu Suresh Gunathilake was the other member to delegation from SLCFA’s NEC.
This year delegation was comprised of a cross section of Sri Lankan youth representing five China friendly association of Sri Lanka – two college students, two graduates, two senior journalists, a medical doctor, a qualified chartered accountant, and a senior IT business management professional/postgraduate.
This time the youth delegation made visits to Beijing and Sichuan Province. the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Sichuan Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Suining People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Dujiangyan Municipal Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, and Foreign Affairs Office of Xindu District of Chengdu Municipal People’s Government extended a warm friendly generous reception and great hospitality throughout the period of their stay in China.
During their one-week visit (from Oct 16 to 22 of 2017), they had the privilege of visiting to various cities, the Great Wall in Beijing, important historical places such as forbidden city, Temple of Heaven, Yuanmingyuan Imperial Garden and Hongqiao Market. They also visited to Suining Buddhist Cultural Sites, Chengdu Aidi Eye Hospital, Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Sichuan Vocational and Technical College, and Jiulong Community Village. These visits provided them the opportunity to feel the friendly and special sentiments of the Chinese people, to strengthen relations between the youth of two countries.
