Sri Lanka-China Friendship Association (SLCFA) with collaboration of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka organized a pictorial exhibition on commemorating the 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Sri Lanka and China. This was held at YMBA Auditorium, Kurunegala, on 29th and 30th July 2017.

Hon. Ms. Amara Piyaseeli Ratnayake, the Governor of the North-Western Province graced the opening ceremony as the Chief Guest and Mr. Qiu Xinli the Head of the Political Section of the Chinese Embassy participated as the Guest of Honour. SLCFA President Mr. Ananda Goonatilleke, Attorney-at-Law Chaired the Opening Ceremony.

Principals, Vice Principals, Teachers and Directors of Regional, Zonal Education Offices, Students, and the general public of Kurunegala attended, and studied those historical photographs keenly going through the 20 page booklet of Captions in all 3 languages, Sinhala, Tamil and English.

SLCFA in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy donated large parcels of valuable books on China printed in English to the libraries of Schools in Kurunegala. Holy Family Convent, Maliyadeva Girls College, Maliyadeva Boys Collge, St. Annes Collge, Sri Nissanka College, President’s Balika Vidyalaya, Ibbagamuwa Central College, Maliyadeva Adarsha College, Sir John Kothalawala Vidyalaya, Mahinda College Kurunegala, and several other schools attended this exhibition with a large crowd of students with the guidance of their teachers.
