Sri Lanka China Friendship Association (SLCFA) donated medical drugs worth Sri Lanka Rupees 4 million to Apeksha Cancer Hospital and Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children at an official ceremony held on the 10th of February 2023 at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Health Sri Lanka. This donation was supported by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC). His Excellency Ambassador Qi Zhenhong of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.


Dr. Sunil de Alwis Additional Secretary (Medical Services) to the Ministry of Health Sri Lanka welcomed the dignitaries and the gathering. Delivering the welcome address Dr. Alwis mentioned that China always supported Sri Lanka in good and bad times, and he is fortunate to welcome one his veteran teachers at Ananda College today at this gathering, none other than Mr. Ananda Goonatilleke, President of SLCFA.
Addressing the gathering Mr. S. Janaka Sri Chandraguptha, Secretary to the Ministry of Health Sri Lanka said medical drug shortage is impacted the operations of government hospitals, therefore the generous donations that China have extended are extremely valuable. On behalf of Ministry of Health Sri Lanka he extended his gratitude to SLCFA, CPAFFC and to the people of China.


SLCFA President, Attorney-at-Law Mr. Ananda Goonatilleke said that their organization have identified health services of Sri Lanka as a top priority for their community services, and will offer their fullest support in future too. The general secretary of SLCFA Mr. Rathindra Kuruwita, Vice Presidents of SLCFA Mr. D.M. Premadara Dissanayake, Mr. Aruna Goonatilleke, and Mr. Thilak Botheju were also present.
