As the President of the Sri Lanka-China Friendship Association (SLCFA) I am honoured to wish
a glorious new year to our people who have always been friendly towards China for various
reasons including geo-political, ideological, cultural and economic aspirations. After seriously
analysing contemporary domestic and global thinking of the leadership of China headed by
President Xi Jinping, I am confident that China’s Political, Diplomatic, Economic and
Technological strategies will pave way for further development of Sri Lanka and other
developing countries. China can in many ways be beneficial to much developed nations too.
Hence I invite Sri Lankan intellectuals, students of politics and economic development, admirers
of good governance and very specially anti corruption campaigners to study writings of
Xi Jinping and to learn from Xi Jinping.
Politically President Xi Jinping and Chinese Government upholds Independence and sovereignty
as they have proved us during Sri Lanka’s 30 year war against terrorism and diplomatic
manipulations of Western and Regional powers. China is playing a major role in financial
integration, currency stability systems and promotion of several new joint venture financial and
banking institutions. President Xi Jinping has launched an international development strategy by
re-introducing Silk Road Economic Belt and Maritime Silk Road. As Sri Lanka is fundamentally
a strategic point in the Maritime Silk Route, it would be a project tailor made
for Sri Lankan economic development.
Domestically Xi Jinping’s leadership is guiding China in the course of Socialism with Chinese
Characteristics, particularly in the areas of reform and opening up further, National Unification,
establishing the Rule of Law, Good Governance, Advanced Culture in alignment with the
Marxist ideological stability with a vigorous anti corruption campaign. This struggle against
corruption and extravagance is a principle we friends of China should learn from contemporary
China and strictly implement in all our spheres of activities. Exposing the wrong tendency
of ” feasting, drinking ” squandering of resources, President Xi Jinping says, ” it is the blood and
sweat of the people they are tossing away ! ”
Finally I most earnestly call upon all those who admire China and friendly towards Chinese
people to learn from China and to learn from Chinese leaders like Chairmen Mao Zedong and
President Xi Jinping in order to develop Sri Lanka to be a more developed country with good
governance and social stability.
